I have been interested in generational astrology (using the outer planets) ever since I read Strauss & Howe, a pair of (boomer) sociologists with an intriguing spin on America's generations. My first-ever published astro article (in Dell HOROSCOPE) back in '99 was about the astrology of Gen X. Anyhow, permissive parenting vs. "helicopter" parenting seems to go in cycles, reaching extremes of underprotection with our type of generation and overprotection with Silent-type generations (kids of the Great Depression and WWII, and also today's under-10 kids).

I would be most psyched to do a chart for you, since you're one of my regular readers. Please contact me (or have your husband contact me) for my rates. Even if you're not local, I do phone sessions.T. C. I just read ...Very awesome and interesting reading. I just read about parenting styles pre-WWII and post-WWII, as well as post-70's sexual revolution and I can see how children of our X generation as you put it, "mostly left alone to fend for ourselves; most of us survived, some of us have thrived, and some of us are scarred."
Permissive parenting got popular after the 70's and that's when kids started walking to the bus in places freakin' NYC... and when people raised this way started to hurt other people...
I believe this parenting style in extremes has lead to the hedonistic, self-involved society that is currently seen as "functioning."
I might ask hubby to buy me a reading from you for our anniversary. I am INTRIGUED.HiLLjOhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18339271743324886097noreply@blogger.com
